Scholarships

For many years, Sighișoara had two vocational schools: one specializing in technical subjects and the other in business and commerce. In autumn 2017, the two schools merged to form Liceul Tehnologic Nr. 1 Sighișoara Romania. The town is also home to the historic Haltrich Lyceum, a German-Romanian secondary school located in the citadel.

Working very closely with the Lions Club Sighișoara, we award scholarships to pupils who would otherwise be unable, or would find it very difficult, to complete their education because supporting their families often has to take priority. We currently provide monthly support to around 30 scholarship recipients. They are selected by the local school administration, whose staff know the circumstances of each pupil very well and remain in close contact with them.

The Lions Club Sighișoara visits the school every month to check on the well-being, regular attendance, and performance of "our" scholarship recipients. These reports also tell us whether the pupils are lacking anything and, if so, what they need - for example, computers for their classrooms.

During our aid trips, we accompany the Lions Club Sighișoara on its visits and see the scholarship recipients' progress for ourselves.
