Family Aid
At the heart of our aid programs is the intergenerational support of around 90 people in extreme need - elderly and/or ill people, most of whom live alone - as well as large families, regardless of gender, religion, or ethnic background.
We visit these people personally during our aid trips twice a year to see for ourselves how they are doing and what their current situation is, and to check whether the financial support has been used as agreed. In addition to material and financial donations, those in need particularly value the personal contact, interest, and empathy we offer.
Our family aid is tailored personally and individually to the problems of those we support. Depending on their needs, we provide money for specific forms of assistance, such as glasses, operations, medical appointments, medication, appliances and other items (e.g. a refrigerator or stove), building materials, school uniforms, school supplies, clothing, shoes, and baby essentials. Our decisions are also guided by the principle of helping people to help themselves, allowing us to provide support that is as sustainable as possible.
It is very important to us to do something about hunger among those in need. Because there is often not enough money for food, we bring a food parcel containing basic staples on every visit. We also provide selected families with bread subscriptions, enabling them to collect a free loaf of bread from a local bakery every week.
